Today is the 50th anniversary of the Lego block. Nothing could be a more appropriate start of my blog than a salute to Lego. I have no intention of writing an absurdly long, boring, dry, yucky blog. Ever. And so this will be so non-comprehensive, it's almost better to not start it at all. Yet I can't resist.
If asked for my #1 toy recommendation, Lego would be it. If you were to buy any one toy. Ever. Lego should be that toy. Even in our dark, dreary, can't-afford-thing days, Lego was the present of choice (thank God for Ebay... but that's another blog).
It also seems a little silly to kick-start this with a product that's no longer available. No, I'm not talking Lego, I'm talking Primo. Primo was/is by Lego for babies 0-24 months. I say is because Primo is still available on Ebay. We, of course, being on child #6, have a buttload of Primo from our previous kid days. Lately #6 has been obsessed with Primo. In fact ever since I dragged down (make that had #1 drag down) the Primo from the attic, #6 has been going like gangbusters to figure out how to move, shake, play with the stuff. #1-5 have been happily helping him figure it out.
Even the Dad has been stacking, building and rattling... for the baby's amusement, of course. Baby and dad play a game where the Dad builds a tower, pretends to look away while the baby crawls over at landspeed records and tears it down. All the while whooping it up! The fact that we still have Primo is, all by itself, reason enough to convince anyone out there it's a good toy. Add in that it still works, isn't broken, cracked or faded. Well, I'm surprised you're still reading this and not buying up the last lots on Ebay!
